One of the many benefits of living in a Cambridge Homes community of luxury patio homes is having your front yard maintained by the Homeowner Association. You’ll no longer need a lawn mower because the HOA will take care of mowing and fertilizing your yard – and the yards of all your neighbors. But there are many other benefits to living in a community governed by a Homeowner Association.
A Homeowner’s Association, or HOA, is a group of elected neighbors charged with the responsibility of governing the community. They are responsible for ensuring that the CC&R’s (rather like the Bill of Rights) are honored and enforced, and for determining how collective money will be spent to maintain or improve the appearance and function of the neighborhood.
The elected members of the Homeowner’s Association of most Cambridge Homes communities actually hire a Management Company to oversee the responsibilities of the association. Such responsibilities delegated to the Management Company include the letting of contracts, such as for maintenance of front yards and common areas; paying bills for expenses incurred by the HOA, and enforcing the rules by which the HOA is governed (The CC&R’s). Elected members of the HOA also encourage the Management Company to watch for violations of the CC&R’s and to take action as required to deal with infractions. Because the Management Company pays the bills for expenses incurred by the HOA, they also maintain the books.
Several times during each year, the HOA and its Management Company hold an open meeting for all the homeowners of the community to review the status of each responsibility of the HOA. This allows individual homeowners to ask questions and to express their opinions. Subjects for discussion can include the quality of the landscape maintenance, ideas for community social gatherings, how the collective monies are being spent, a review of “the books”, etc. Such involvement on the part of homeowners helps foster interest and pride in the community and a happy sense of neighborliness.
At Cambridge Homes, we believe that a cohesive group of homeowners enhances the qualify of life for each individual living in the community. For more information about living in a carefree patio home community, please visit our website at or give us a call at (972) 478-8181.

Designing a patio home can be a great way to learn how to configure space. There are certain design elements that can be used to make the home feel larger. The following guide explores a few different ways to arrange facets of your home to make the area feel more spacious:
Ceiling Height: Contrasting ceilings can open up your house and provide an expansive feel to the inside area. By varying ceiling heights, you can subtly provide distinctions between rooms. A lower kitchen ceiling with a tall ceiling in the living room creates an appropriate contrast.
Room Dimensions: The more visible floor space that is available in your home, the larger it will feel. Take care to measure the size of each room and fill it with appropriately sized furniture. Smaller pieces like recliners or love seats can allow a tighter space to appear larger.
Window Configuration: Correct proportions are essential to making sure that windows are doing their job. A smaller window can cramp the area, so choose larger windows to enhance the space. Interior windows can also be used to open up the space between rooms.
Doorway Placement: A glass door can be used to increase the feeling of spaciousness in a room. Try to plan it so that the door isn’t too close to a competing wall, as this can cause an area to feel constricted.
At Cambridge Homes in Texas, we can help you create a home that feels spacious and unique. Enjoy the intimacy and beauty of a zero lot line home, where a private courtyard is your own personal paradise. To get started on building your luxurious, low-maintenance patio home, call (972) 478-8181.
